Ogame espionage probes

Hi there this is a question to all of you. I am sending some probes out often. Most of them go to spy on inactive players mostly around the same level as me. I usually send 3 probes but after a bad scan I'll send 5. Sometimes however I can never get a complete scan from people. I just see their resources and nothing about their fleet, defenses or anything else. Can someone tell me why? I would greatly appreciate it

(I scanned one guy at around level 1400 three times in a row with 5 probes and twice with 2 as he had a good lot of resources. Behold no information every time.)

That is due to your esp level, in comparison to the one you are spying on. =)
