I don't know, maybe it's just preliminary CGI or the lower definition of Youtube, but that just looks... I don't know... amateurish?

That CGI doesn't even look as good as the early DS9/Voyager stuff, it's gotta be preliminary rendering.

Yea i think thats what it is, super early trial. Most likely to wet the pallet. I read the ship design is an early concept one from back around TOS. Looks Klingonish to me. I just hope they do the Disco justice, feel like ive invested some time on that ship already

Ship = Ugly
Music = No
Rendering = Poor (and for a new Star Trek series a teaser like that was bound to not be well received)

I think I'll reserve judgement until we see some final renders. It's not unheard of for trailers to use early versions of the CGI in order to rush them out to the fans. As far as the design goes, I'm hoping this is some sort of stolen klingon ship or something, it doesn't look starfleet at all beyond the saucer.

With the announcement of the series' title in July 2016 came a promotional video giving a first look at the USS Discovery. The video did not feature final designs, as the producers had "three weeks to throw that together. We wanted to show fans ... Soch,you're a little mixed up. That wasn't the original D concept or Phase 2. This design was from Planet of the Titans, the screenplay that eventually became the Phase 2 concept. It was still supposed to be the Connie refit. The whole idea of the Refit in TMP came from Titans and was carried over to the "In Thy Image" pilot for Phase II, which eventually became TMP.

Seems like the XO is a mix of Spok and Ohura from the new JJ movie series on just the trailer. CG looks crazy great!
